Good Knowledge Is Good2Use

Virtual private networking is the creation of a logical, indirect, secure connection across a private network or across a public network, such as the Internet. A virtual private network client uses TCP/IP -based protocols called tunnelling protocols to connect to your Small Business Server. This method allows data to travel securely across the Internet.

By default, the Routing and Remote Access Service is configured to use PPTP as the means for establishing the tunnel between the remote client and the Small Business Server, and for encrypting the data as it travels across the Internet.
