PC Knowledge Base - Create a New Personal Folder

To finish the process you need to define a new personal folder for the user. To do this, use the following steps:

  1. On the File menu, point to New, and click Personal Folders File (.pst).
  2. Type the name of the new Personal Folder. Verify and change the file location if necessary.
  3. Click Create.
    NOTE: Do not use the name mailbox.pst.
  4. Verify and change the information if necessary, and then click OK.
  5. If the Folder List does not appear, on the View menu, click Folder List.
  6. Right-click the new Personal Folders,
  7. Click "Properties for ", and
  8. Click "Deliver POP mail to this personal folders file,"
  9. Click OK.
  10. On the File menu, click Exit.
  11. Restart Outlook.
  12. In the Folder List, right-click the Personal Folders not associated with Outlook Today,
  13. Click Properties,
  14. Click Advanced, and verify that the path of this file is different than the one you created in step 2.
  15. Click OK twice to close the dialogs.
  16. In the Folder List, right-click the Personal Folders not associated with Outlook Today, and click Close "Personal Folders Name."
NOTE: This closes the connection between Outlook and the folder. It does not delete it.
Log off as the current user. Log on as a new user and repeat the above sections for each new user.
