The Net Folders feature was introduced in Outlook 98 and it allows you to share Outlook folders with anyone to whom you can send e-mail. You use dialog and menu commands to specify the folder you want to share, the people you want to share the folder with, and permissions for those people.
Each recipient is then sent a subscription form to accept, and after the recipient accepts it, a local copy of the shared folder is created on his machine. Outlook uses hidden e-mail messages to synchronise the contents of the shared folder back and forth. Net Folders are a great way to share mail, calendar, contact, or task information for small groups of people.
