PC Knowledge Base - How To Edit the Boot.ini File in Windows 2000 Modifying the Default Operating System

Good Knowledge Is Good2Use

The default represents the operating system that will be loaded if no selection is made before the time out occurs.
In Notepad modify the following line to reflect the operating system which is to be the default:

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
For example, changing the default from Windows 2000 Server to Microsoft Windows 95
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
would be modified to:
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(2)\Windows
On the File menu, click Save.
