Good Knowledge Is Good2Use

  A two-dimensioanl vector is described using Cartesian co-ordinates x and y as in the upper figure left. That is a line going from 0,0 to x, y

The figure beneath it will have the vertical line defined by [0, y], being vertical it has no x value.
The horizontal line by [x,0] as it has no y value.

Performing a matrix multiplication, the dot product, on the two vectors results in 0 * x + y * 0 =0.

These vectors are described as orthogonal as they are at right-angles to each other and their dot product is zero.
