To format a new partition or partitions, use one of the following methods, depending on your file system.

For a FAT16 file system:

  1. Double-click My Computer,
  2. right-click the partition that you just created,
  3. click Format,
  4. click Full, and then
  5. click Start.
  6. After the format procedure is complete, click OK to close the dialogue box.

For a FAT32 file system:

  1. Click Start,
  2. point to Programs,
  3. point to Accessories,
  4. point to System Tools,
  5. click Drive Converter (FAT32), and then
  6. click Next.
In the Drives box, click the drive that you want to convert to the FAT32 file system.
  7. Click Next, and then click OK.
  8. Click Next,
  9. click Next, and then
  10. click Next again.
When the conversion procedure is finished, click Finish.

NOTE: Do not use the /s switch that you used when you set up drive C. All you need to do is to format the drive or drives so that you can use them. For example, if you created two new drive letters, you need to format both drives.
