The server hardware consisted of a Dell PowerEdge 2400 Small Business Server, configured as follows.

ProcessorDual Intel 667MHz/133MHz Pentium III processors, restricted to either a single processor configuration or dual processor configuration.
DrivesThree 9GB 10KB rpm SCSI-3 disks configured in RAID 5 (strip set with parity) for application, data, and log files.
One 9GB 10k rpm SCSI-3 disk configured in RAID 0 for the operation system and page file.
NetworkOne Intel Pro/100+ NIC (embedded)
Memory1GB of 133MHz SDRAM, restricted to 256MB, 384MB, 512MB, or 1GB tests.
COM Devices4 Port NetAccess Remote Access Service (RAS) Card
SoftwareSmall Business Server 2000 Beta 1
The load simulation tests were run on the server by using three different configurations: 256MB, 512MB, and 1GB of RAM. The processor and memory configurations were changed in the Windows 2000 Server BOOT.INI file by using the NUMPROC and MAXMEM switches, for example:
